“Minaudières” by Van Cleef & Arpels

Once a symbol of luxury, this small decorative case
has now become a statement accessory for almost
all outfits. La Maison Van Cleef & Arpels launches
in 1930, an ultra-sophisticated version of
the vanity case. The story goes that Charls Arpels
caught Florence Gould, an american socialite,
slipping her lipstick into a white tin box.
Surprised that such a stylish woman has nothing
in which to tuck away her cosmetics, he invented
     the Minaudière.
